Stained glass artist, Emma Blount, offers a bespoke stained glass service including restoration of existing leaded lights and repairs to antique stained glass window and door panels. Working in traditional leaded stained glass and also contemporary methods, Emma creates pieces using plain leaded lights, coloured glass, painted glass and also etched glass.
Gaining an honours degree in ‘Art for Community’ at Roehampton Institute (Barnes, London) Emma completed many prestigious commissions, in the UK and internationally, and is now well established as a leading figure in the field of contemporary stained glass.
She was given the 2006-7 ‘Award of Excellence’ by the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass to undertake a ten month training programme, in some of the foremost studios in Europe, to experience an extraodinarily wide range of practices from the earliest traditional techniques to the latest, progressive methods of glass decoration.
Emma’s work includes creative commissions as well as expert restoration and repair. She is able to restore domestic panels that have been damaged or have pieces missing – replacing broken or decayed window, door and portico panels - to complete and enhance the orginal character features of the building.
She undertakes work on a commission basis by visiting the site to discuss the client’s ideas and requirements. Work is undertaken by way of an advanced part payment of a quoted design fee, with the balance paid on completion and installation of the finished work.
