Scandinavian Gifts and Decorations at Frivoli Gallery
Inspired by natural shapes from the home and countryside, Bengt & Lotta create these charming ironwork sculptures drawing on the historical tradition of Swedish folkart designs. The stark silhouette of the shaped ironwork and the naive yet clean shapes of the motifs are quintessentially Scandinavian. Swedish folkart is born out of a culture of long hard winters and the longing for Springtime and the celebration of ecology, nature and animals is a recurring theme.
Bengt & Lotta , both illustrators, have been a working design partnership for some years now and their widespread appeal has earned them a loyal following worldwide. Working with a range of materials – ironwork, felt and fabric, as well as using more contemporary materials for homeware, their strong illustrative style and Swedish design sense permeates everything they create.
Frivoli Gallery in Chiswick, is showcasing Bengt & Lotta ironwork this Autumn/Winter 2011. Beautiful ironwork candlabra and table lamp bases, perfectly compliment contemporary interiors and make wonderful gifts. The gorgeous little Angel candle holders are a must for your Christmas decorations this year – they look beautiful in a row on the mantlepiece or go Swedish and light a single candle in the window each night to welcome visitors…
