The fair takes place at Asia House on 63 New Cavendish Street, London W1G 7LP.
This year, the Asia House Fair is showcasing 35 exhibitors chosen to represent the finest in arts, handicrafts and design from Asia, stretching from Turkey as far as Japan. Among the exhibitors is 21st Century Village client Shirdak, travelling from the Netherlands, where owner /founder Marianne Tuerlings runs The Shirdak Gallery in Amsterdam, specialising in Silk Road textiles.
This is an opportunity for Londoners to drop by next weekend and meet Marianne in person. Sample the extraordinary textiles & treasures that Shirdak has been bringing from Central Asia to Western Europe for the past 10 years – from hand-embroidered boots to Shyrdak Rugs to beautiful felted fashion. All materials are sustainably produced, strictly fair trade and traditionally made to the highest possible standards. While Shirdak textiles and products come from all over Asia, Marianne has a special affinity with Kyrgyzstan and the work of the women’s artisan felt making cooperative, where extraordinary artisan felt is produced, using techniques handed down from mother to daughter since ancient times.
